The Best GEO Tools for 2026: Comparing 8 Platforms for AI Visibility Tracking and Optimization

Ranking first on Google doesn't guarantee your brand appears in ChatGPT or Perplexity. GEO tools show you what's actually happening on the AI side. We tested eight AI visibility and content optimization platforms for clients and built a comparison by pricing, features, and team size. We've also mapped out how three different situations (single brands, agencies, and enterprises) should approach the decision. The real question: you're not looking for the most expensive tool, you're looking for the one that converts visibility tracking into actual AI citations.

GEO tools track and optimize how your brand appears in AI-generated answers. They don't answer "What's my ranking on Google?" but rather "When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews a question in my industry, does the AI mention me, how does it mention me, and which sources does it cite?"

Six months ago we ran a routine audit for a B2B SaaS client. Their traditional SEO rankings looked strong, several keywords on page one. When we ran the same questions through Perplexity, the results cited three competitors instead. The VP of marketing said something direct: "So we won on Google, but we literally don't exist in AI." The content itself wasn't the issue. They simply had no way to see what was happening on the AI side.

That's why GEO tools exist. This comparison covers eight tools we've used or evaluated for clients. We've organized them by pricing, core capability, and team size to help you move faster through the selection process.

How to pick the right GEO tool: start with which half of the problem you're solving

GEO tools generally divide into two categories. The first is visibility tracking or monitoring, which shows your exposure, citation rates, sentiment, and competitive standing across AI engines. The second is content optimization, which identifies which pages need work and what structured data to add so AI chooses you as a source. The common failure: teams buy monitoring tools without anyone acting on the insights. The dashboard looks fine while your visibility doesn't move.

The table below is what we actually use for evaluations. Pricing is mid-2026, monthly, and for reference only; always confirm current pricing with vendors before committing.

Three common scenarios, three different approaches

If you're a single brand just beginning with AI, don't jump to enterprise tools. Start with Otterly.AI or Writesonic at entry-level pricing. Use your first month to understand how AI currently describes your brand, which sources it cites, and which of your pages remain invisible. The goal is establishing a baseline, not buying the most expensive dashboard.

If you're an agency or managing multiple brands simultaneously, Peec AI's multi-brand and competitive views significantly reduce overhead. The reports also export for sharing directly with clients. When we evaluated it for an agency, that single capability (manage 10 clients in one backend) eliminated two other tools that only handled single brands.

If you're a large enterprise needing to integrate AI visibility into existing BI and attribution models, you need enterprise-grade platforms like Profound or Scrunch AI. Conversation-level source attribution and cross-engine scaled tracking aren't features entry-level tools provide. Understand what you're buying though: more detailed data, not less work. As your data becomes more granular, you need someone actively converting those insights into content decisions.

One practical issue worth noting: the numbers shift. Ask Perplexity the same prompt today versus tomorrow and the citations change. Different tools sample different prompts, so their visibility scores aren't comparable across platforms. Pick one tool as your single source of truth, lock down your prompts, lock down your measurement schedule, and stop bouncing between platforms trying to make the numbers align.

Monitoring is just the starting point; getting cited is the goal

Buying a GEO tool won't get you cited by AI any more than owning a scale makes you lose weight. The tool shows you "Perplexity is citing a competitor's comparison page." The actual work: rewrite your comparison page with clearer structure, explicit definition sentences, tables and data points AI can directly extract. Make it obvious and easy for AI to want your brand as a source. This article follows that logic; it opens with a citeable definition and includes an extractable table.

At Tenten, when we work on FDM and GEO, we don't just hand over a tool recommendation and leave. We deploy engineers on site: we wire up one monitoring tool to establish your baseline, then we revise your pages one by one so they're readable and extractable for AI. We stay with it until your brand actually appears in answers. The dashboard turning green doesn't mean success. Success is when AI mentions your brand by name and the traffic actually converts for your business.
