Abstract
Agentic AI systems — systems that take actions in the world autonomously, browse the web, write and execute code, call APIs, and modify files — introduce governance challenges that do not exist in conventional software systems or passive AI systems (like chatbots that provide information without taking action).
The core problem is irreversibility. A poorly designed agentic system can send an email, modify a database record, or execute a financial transaction without human review. These actions may be difficult or impossible to reverse. The cost of a failed agentic action is potentially much higher than the cost of a failed query response.
This runbook covers the governance architecture that Tenten AI implements for production agentic AI deployments in regulated enterprises. It is a practical document, not a framework document: every component described is implemented in actual production deployments.
